It's on!!!
ESPNU that is. If you've got the sports package with DirectTV and are not working today, you'd be able to watch wrestling all day! I'm DVR'ing it as I write.
ESPNU will be covering the quarters and semi's today, with the finals Saturday on ESPN.
Minnesota has two going into the semi's with two more matches at 184(Kish) and HWT(Conrad) in the quarters. Minnesota had two disappointing losses in the earlier quarter round matches with Rivera(#4) loosing to an unseeded Rider wrestler, and CP Schlatter(#4) loosing to #5 seed Poeta from Illinois. Schlatter loosing in the way he always seems to repeat; stalling while ahead.
Overall Minnesota is still in good position for a team championship.
Biggest upset of the tourney so far... Max Askren, #1 seeded freshman from Missouri was upset in the first round and then out for good in the first consolation match.
For more updates look no further than The Guillotine's coverage of Minnesota wrestlers, as well as TheMat.

Vacation time...
Odd time for a vacation, I know! But, for the past nine years I've made a fly-fishing trip to an unnamed river in Montana. It's meant the beginning of spring to me during that time. The ice on the lakes around Minnesota is just starting to melt away. The mud, endless mud that slowly turns to the new green that is soon to envelope the landscape. I do look forward to it as much for this feeling of change as I do for the terrific scenery and excellent fishing. A few more weeks 'til we make the 13 hour glorious drive! A few pictures of a recent visit:

Wrestling...real wrestling! Anyone?
The 2007 Minnesota state wrestling tourney ended Saturday night. Plugging away on my tin can/string internet connection I was able to stay fairly plugged in. Either through the links the Guillotine provided or their forum I was a mere five to ten minutes away from match scores. Not the same as being there, but I got the info I needed.
To my knowledge Minnesota has never televised their state wrestling tournaments. Growing up in southern Minnesota I was treated every winter to Iowa Public Television's coverage of high school and college wrestling.
This weekend was also the Big 10 championships at Michigan State. With a little more hassle and shaking of the tin cans, I was also able to keep up with some of the matches and scoring...mainly from the forum at themat.com.
The past few years have been getting better for this wrestling fan. You can now see some coverage, more so on dish than cable from what I've seen. I can look forward to the upcoming NCAA championships televised on one of the espn's.
As for the Big 10 tourney? I'll get to watch it... Tape delayed sometime this week!
