Finally got back out in the woods after a couple weeks of travel, warm weather and then a full weekend of rain and drizzle. Probably best as it gave me and the lease land a break from plodding around. It also allowed me to bitch about the neighbor's dogs that keep chasing me out of the lease coming out of the woods! Joe must have talked to them because the neighbors at least tried to keep them in their little section and out of the lease!
About a half hour after I took this photo I saw two does come out of the east pretty much at the top and right part of the photo above. The neighbor's dog yipped eventually and those does scrammed. Pretty sure those damn dogs have been running roughshod all over the land all summer and most of the fall.
Around 5:30 does kept filtering in out of the north east corner of the alfalfa field. I counted 12 before it got dark. A young doe got as close as 47 yards about 6:20. Too far and too dark!
Best hunt of the year so far. Very promising; especially rifle season.
